Experimental Research on the Dynamic Waterproof Performance of Sports Shoes

1. Principle Due to reasons such as the wearing place, sneakers are required to have good dynamic and static waterproof performance, but they cannot be obtained by losing their hygienic properties such as breathability. Therefore, the waterproofness here refers to water resistance, not water repellency. Or drainage. Waterproof shoes require that the main components of the shoes, such as the upper surface and the sole, are made of waterproof materials. At present, the 2-hour and 24-hour static water absorption rate method and the finished shoe dynamic waterproof test machine method are mainly used for the waterproof test of upper materials. If the sole material is natural leather or other non-waterproof substrates, similar tests should be carried out. According to information, materials with a static water absorption rate of less than 25% in 24 hours can be used to make shoes with waterproof performance. The principle of the waterproof test of sneakers is to test the water in a water tank with a certain depth of water by a testing machine or a tester simulating walking conditions to determine the range and extent of water infiltration into the shoes for a specified number of times or time, so as to determine the waterproof performance of the whole shoe. For shoes that can be subjected to tortuous tests, the waterproof performance can be tested according to the standard GB/T16641-1996 'Dynamic Waterproof Torsion Testing Machine Method for Finished Shoes'; for shoes that cannot be bent due to hard soles, please refer to BS5131:5.5 'Finished Shoes Resistance' 'Water Permeability Sink Test' standard for testing, but this method is more time-consuming. If you can change to a smaller angle for tortuous, you can also refer to the GB/T16641-1996 standard. 2. Dynamic waterproof performance tester: Scope of application: Used to test the water permeability resistance of leather, artificial leather, and cloth, and apply a flexural action to test the permeability index of the material. Meet the standard: DIN53338 and other standards. Features: The test method uses clean steel balls wrapped in the material. The impedance and total weight of the steel balls must meet the requirements. Under this condition, the tortuous water permeability index of the material is measured. The latest sensing element and special design are used. When the material is penetrated by water, it will automatically stop counting or when the set time (test times) is reached, it will automatically stop and display the time or number of times. With power-off memory function. Technical parameters: Number of test pieces: 4sets Counter: LCD 0~999,999 Test speed: 90±5cpm Swing angle: 30?±1? The distance between two V clamps: 60±1mm Controller: PLC system touch screen control weight: 55kg AC220V 50HZ Volume: 71*60*55cm Third, the composition of the finished shoe dynamic waterproof tortuous testing machine The finished shoe dynamic waterproof testing machine The movable rod and the rear clamp group are connected to drive the heel part of the shoe to bend, and the front clamp group is used for fixing The forefoot part of the shoe, in the experiment, the forefoot part of the shoe is located in the water. The water storage depth of the water tank of the test machine is greater than 60 mm. Counting device is used to display the number of zigzags. Water permeable signal device is used to measure whether the shoe is water permeable. It can send out a water permeation signal (when one of them is water permeable) and stop automatically. The contact length between the probe and the sample is more than 3 cm. 4. Sample (1) The sample should be a finished shoe after 48 hours of processing, with a shoe size greater than 23. (2) The sample should be adjusted at (23±2)℃ for 4 hours and then tested. 5. Test conditions (1) The test environment temperature is (23±2) ℃ (2) The preset number of turns is 40,000. (Refer to the general frequency of footwear flexural test) (3) The tortuous frequency of the test is set to 60 RpM. 6. Test procedure (1) Adjust the tortuous angle of the movable rod: general golf shoes are 45±1 degrees, and the hard bottom shoes are adjusted to 10±1 degrees. (2) Put the sample shoe into the clamp, adjust and fix the position of the front clamp set at the first and five toe joints of the forefoot, so that the shoe bends along this line. (3) Put water at a temperature of (23±2)℃ in the water tank, and the water level should reach one-half of the distance between the joint between the sole and the upper and the joint between the upper and the tongue. (4) The test is carried out to the specified number of times, the machine is stopped, and the water permeation of each shoe is tested visually or with permeable graph paper and recorded and recorded. If any shoe has been water-permeable before the specified number of times, its counter will stop counting. If both shoes are water-permeable, it will automatically stop, and record the number of twists and turns and accumulation during each water-permeation. Seven, test steps (1) Adjust the tortuous angle of the movable rod: general golf shoes are 45±1 degrees, and the hard bottom shoes are adjusted to 10±1 degrees. If any shoe has been water-permeable before the specified number of times, its counter will stop counting. What Are the ISTA Standard Tests and ISTA Testing Equipment?
ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) standard tests are globally recognized transportation packaging test procedures designed to evaluate the safety and reliability of products and their packaging throughout the logistics chain. By simulating real-world transportation conditions such as drops, vibration, impact, stacking, and compression, ISTA testing helps identify potential packaging weaknesses before products enter large-scale distribution. ISTA testing equipment—including drop testers, vibration testers, incline impact machines, and compression testers—plays a critical role in accurately reproducing these conditions under laboratory settings. Proper selection and use of ISTA-compliant equipment enable manufacturers to reduce transportation damage, lower return costs, enhance packaging design, and improve customer confidence in product quality and logistics safety.
