A Brief Introduction to the Determination of Random Pilling Properties of GB Fabrics

1. Reference standard: GB/T 4802.4 Determination of the pilling and pilling properties of fabrics Part 4: Random tumbling method There are four methods to test the pilling performance of fabrics, including the alpha method, the pilling box method and the random tumbling method.)

2. Test apparatus: random tumbling pilling tester

3. Test principle: put the sample into the test box, Under the rotation of the impeller, the cork lining of the storage box rubs continuously and randomly. After the set time is reached, the sample is taken out for rating.

4. Main instruments and appliances:

1. Pilling box

2. Cork cylinder liner: Length 452mm, width 146mm, thickness 1.5mm. Cork pads need to be replaced after 1 hour of use.

3. Air compression device: make the test chamber reach a certain pressure (14-21KPa).

4. Adhesive, gray short cotton.

5. Rating box: illuminated with white fluorescent tubes or bulbs. The position of the light source is kept with the plane of the sample 5°—15°, the observation direction is kept 90° from the sample plane°±10°. The distance between the eye with normal vision and the specimen should be 30cm—50cm. V. Preparation of samples:

(1) Pretreatment: If pretreatment is required, the samples can be washed or dry cleaned by the method agreed by both parties.

(2) Take 3 samples from the fabric sample, the size is (105±2) mm*(105±2) mm, and cut another cloth sample of the same size as a comparison sample for rating. The specimens were marked and the edges of the specimens were sealed with adhesive and hung to dry.

6. Test steps:

1). Put 3 samples from the same sample into different test chambers for testing.

2). Put the gray cotton wool together with the sample into the test chamber (weight 25mg, length 6mm)

3). Set the test time to 30min, start the instrument, and open the airflow valve.

4). After the test, take samples for rating, and use a vacuum cleaner to remove the remaining cotton wool.

7. Rating of test results: The rating box should be placed in a dark room. Place the tested sample and an untested sample side by side in the middle of the test panel of the rating box in the longitudinal direction of the fabric (if the test sample is pre-treated before testing, the control sample should also be pre-treated. pretreatment, the reference sample shall be the unpretreated sample). Put the tested sample on the left and the untested sample on the right. Ratings are subjective and at least 2 ratings are recommended. The appearance of the samples and the corresponding grades are as follows: record the grades of each sample, and the rating result of a single person is the average value of the grades for all the samples. The test result of the sample is the average value of the ratings of all personnel. If the average value is not an integer, it should be corrected to the nearest 0.5 level and used“—”means, such as 3—4. If a single test result differs from the average by more than half a class, the class number for each specimen shall be reported at the same time.
