Analysis of spray method of spray water repellency tester AATCC22

The spray-type water repellency testing-equipment' target='_blank'>tester can be used to evaluate the water repellency of the fabric surface. The instrument is an all-metal frame. The quantitative distilled water passes through the standard nozzle and sprays the sample at 150mm below the 45 degree spray. After the test, the surface of the sample and the standard diagram Cards are compared and rated. It is the main equipment for testing the water repellency of fabrics at present. 1. Purpose and scope: 1. The standard applies to any textile fabric, whether or not it has been treated for water repellency. This standard can determine the water-wetting resistance of fabrics, and is especially suitable for textiles treated with water-repellent properties, especially plain woven fabrics. 2. Because the instrument is simple and portable, and the test procedure is relatively simple, this standard is particularly suitable for factory product control. Since this standard cannot determine the performance of water droplets penetrating into the fabric, it is not recommended to use this standard to evaluate the rain penetration resistance of waterproof fabrics. 3. The test results of this standard are related to the initial water repellency and wetting properties of the finishing of fibers, yarns and fabrics, but have little to do with the structure of the fabrics. 2. Test principle: Under the specified conditions and procedures, water is sprayed on a taut sample to form a wetting pattern on the surface, the size of which is related to the water repellency of the fabric. The evaluation result is determined by comparing it with the standard pattern. 3. Instruments and raw materials: Spray water repellency tester; beaker; deionized water. 4. Test samples: 3 pieces of 180*180mm (7*7inch) test samples are required, and they must be placed at a temperature of 21 before testing.±1°C, relative humidity 65±2% standard ambient humidity for at least 4 hours. 5. Test procedure: 1. Put the sample on a metal ring with a diameter of 152mm, with the front side facing up, to ensure that the surface is smooth and wrinkle-free. 2. Place the metal ring with the sample on the stage of the tester, pay attention to the position of the sample when placing it, and ensure that the center of the sample ring is exactly aligned with the center of the spray pattern ring. For some twill, bead or similar striped structures, when placing the sample ring on the stage, the direction of the stripes should be placed diagonally to the direction of water flow. 3. Put 250ml at a temperature of 27±Pour deionized water at 1°C into the funnel of the tester and let it spray over the sample for 25-30 seconds. When pouring deionized water, the beaker should not touch the funnel. If the funnel moves, it will change the spray pattern and shape of the sample. The spray time must be between 25-30 seconds, otherwise the nozzle must be checked to see if its holes are getting larger or blocked. 4. Hold one side of the sample ring, turn the sample face down, tap the other side quickly towards a hard object, and then rotate the sample horizontally by 180°°, hold the original tap and tap the original grip again quickly to knock off the unwetted water droplets on the surface of the sample. 5. Repeat the above steps to test the remaining two samples.

What Are the ISTA Standard Tests and ISTA Testing Equipment?
ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) standard tests are globally recognized transportation packaging test procedures designed to evaluate the safety and reliability of products and their packaging throughout the logistics chain. By simulating real-world transportation conditions such as drops, vibration, impact, stacking, and compression, ISTA testing helps identify potential packaging weaknesses before products enter large-scale distribution. ISTA testing equipment—including drop testers, vibration testers, incline impact machines, and compression testers—plays a critical role in accurately reproducing these conditions under laboratory settings. Proper selection and use of ISTA-compliant equipment enable manufacturers to reduce transportation damage, lower return costs, enhance packaging design, and improve customer confidence in product quality and logistics safety.
