BS5852 Furnishing Fabric Burning Performance Test Experiment Analysis

BS5852 Furnishing Fabric Burning Performance Test Experiment Analysis

The BS5852 furniture fabric flammability test is currently the conventional fire safety monitoring standard in Europe, especially for Chinese enterprises in terms of fire safety quality. This article focuses on the interpretation of the experimental methods and requirements for the flammability test of furniture fabrics. British Standard: BS5852-flammability test of furniture fabric

1, BS 5852 flame retardant test of furniture fabric, fire test-standard name

2, BS 5852-2006: Test method for evaluating the fire performance of soft seats with smoldering and burning ignition sources

3 , BS 5852-2006: Methods of test for assessment of the ignitability of upholstered seating by smouldering and flaming ignition sources The combustibility of material combinations (such as soft seat cover and filling material). In the United Kingdom, all styles of home upholstered furniture must comply with the 'Furniture Fire Safety Clause'. The 1988 amendments to BS 5852 Part 1 and BS 5852 Part 2 were revoked by BSI, but they are still used for the clauses mentioned in the cited standards.

Test requirements: Test method The test must be carried out in a laboratory with standard air flow. The cladding material and filler are placed in a test device to make a small sofa with a base and a backrest at 90o. The ignition source is placed at the joint between the base and the backrest of the sofa. There are 6 different ignition sources, numbered 2-7, of which 2-3 are gas burning fire sources, and 4-7 wood products burning fire sources (more A higher number represents a stronger fire source in the same group). The smoldering time from the beginning during the gas combustion process should not exceed 30 minutes (the wood product combustion source should not exceed 60 minutes). If the test fails to show that the fire source is 100mm upwards and all directions are charred and charred, the gas flame will be in 40 seconds. After removal (fire source 2) or after 70 seconds (fire source 3), when there is no flame, it is allowed to continue until the combustion tube is removed for more than 120 seconds. When there is no flame, the fire source is allowed to continue. 5 After the test starts 10 minutes (fire Source 6-7 is 13 minutes). Relevant standard: BS EN 1021-1 Furniture-Flammability Test Determination of Upholstered Furniture-Part
