Flammability ASTM D6545 Test for Children's Pajamas

The ASTM D6545 test method is used to assess the relative flammability of textiles and apparel for children's pajamas and pajamas. The test and laundering procedures of this method refer to the flammability testing of 16 CFR 1615 and 1616 Children's Pajamas and Pajamas. The vertical combustion tester is a test instrument, and (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. is the manufacturer. Customers in need are welcome to inquire. This method is used to evaluate the durability of the flame retardancy of textiles, and the flame retardancy in the original state and after 50 washing and drying cycles must be tested for children's pajamas and pajamas. Main parameters: 1. Sample size: 80mm×300mm; 2. Ignition method: automatic; 3. Ignition time: 12 seconds; 4. Igniter diameter:Φ11mm; 5. Afterburning time and smoldering time: 0~999.9 seconds; 6. Flame height: 40mm high; 7. Gas used: propane or butane or liquefied petroleum gas; 8. Working power supply: AC220V, 50Hz. Test principle: This method adopts the vertical method, igniting the lowest end of the sample to test the speed of the flame. During the whole test, the sample is placed vertically, and the sample is ignited with a flame with a flame length of 38mm (1.5inch) for 3 seconds. The rate of flame burning is determined by measuring the distance from the low point of the sample to the point where the folded sample is torn under a certain force. Test sample and sampling: Test sample: If the size of the cloth piece is 8.9*25.4cm, if the tested sample contains seams, decorations or the sample is a garment, the test sample should contain seams or decorations. Test sampling: According to 16CFR1615 and 1616 sampling plan, cut 5 test samples from the cloth, seam, decoration or garment. The test sample must be cut to length 254±3mm, width is 89±3mm sample. Each piece of raw material to be tested shall take 2-3 test samples along the length direction and another 2-3 test samples along the width direction to ensure that 5 test samples are taken for each tested sample, and each test sample has one Data, the test results are averaged from the above 5 samples. Fabrics used for children's pajamas are tested in their original condition and after 50 washes. However, for fabrics that have not undergone flame retardant treatment, and these fabrics do not have a variety of special functions, there is no need to test the results after 50 washings. For clothes of these fabrics, as long as the fabrics can meet the flammability requirements of federal standards in their original state , it can be considered to meet the flammability requirements of the original state and after 50 washings. Sampling plans for fabrics and garments are not listed in this standard, but are equivalent to federal regulations, see 16CFR1615 and 1616 for details. Test procedure: 01. First turn off the exhaust fan, turn on the gas, and adjust the needle valve to make the flame height of the burner 38mm (1.5inch), first turn on the burner and close the door of the test box for at least 5 minutes, and then adjust the indoor light. Dark, and adjust the flame height so that the height of the upper end of the burner port to the top of the visible part of the flame is 38±2mm. 02. Remove the sample holder with the sample from the desiccator and hang it on the hanging rod of the test chamber, close the door, and move the flame so that the bottom of the sample is just above the center of the flame. 03. When the sample is taken out from the desiccator, it should be ignited within 30 seconds. After igniting the sample for 3.0+0.2 seconds, move the burner to the other side to end the ignition. 04. When the flame or the residual star has been extinguished, turn on the exhaust fan of the fume hood for enough time to exhaust the smoke in the test chamber and the fume hood. At the same time, please pay special attention to the toxic smoke and combustion residues in the test chamber, and avoid inhalation. For these fumes, suitable breathing apparatus can also be used. 05. Take out the sample holder from the test chamber, because the sample holder and the test sample may be hot, please pay special attention when taking it out. 06. Take the sample out of the sample holder, start the sample from the high position of carbonization or damage, and press a wrinkle along the length of the sample. 07. Open the sample and place the sample away from the charcoal flower and away from the bottom 6.4±Insert a hook at 20mm, and hang a heavy hammer on the hook. 08. Gently lift the other end of the sample without the weight until the weight is just lifted off the work surface, so that the burned sample is obviously torn until the sample can withstand the specified force. . 09. Use a ruler to measure the length of charring from the end torn by charring to the point where the specimen is ignited. This length is indicated in the report. 10. Repeat 02-09 until all 5 samples are tested. 11. For test results, please indicate the average carbonization length of 5 samples and the maximum carbonization length of no sample.

What Are the ISTA Standard Tests and ISTA Testing Equipment?
ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) standard tests are globally recognized transportation packaging test procedures designed to evaluate the safety and reliability of products and their packaging throughout the logistics chain. By simulating real-world transportation conditions such as drops, vibration, impact, stacking, and compression, ISTA testing helps identify potential packaging weaknesses before products enter large-scale distribution. ISTA testing equipment—including drop testers, vibration testers, incline impact machines, and compression testers—plays a critical role in accurately reproducing these conditions under laboratory settings. Proper selection and use of ISTA-compliant equipment enable manufacturers to reduce transportation damage, lower return costs, enhance packaging design, and improve customer confidence in product quality and logistics safety.
