Martindale Abrasion Tester Used for Measuring Method of Sample Mass Loss

1. Test standard: GB/T 21196.3 2. Test principle: The tested fabric is installed in the upper sample fixture and rubbed with the abrasive installed on the grinding table. The friction trajectory is Li Sharu's figure. Weigh the mass of the sample at intervals during the test, and determine the wear resistance of the fabric according to the mass loss of the sample. 3. Test steps: 1. Sample installation: The sample is installed in the sample fixture. Place the sample in the center on the compression nut of the sample holder, with the friction surface of the sample facing down, and the size of the sample is 38.0+50mm. When the sample weight is less than 500 g/m2, place the foam pad on the sample. Put the insert into the compression nut, put the sample clamp sleeve on and tighten it. 2. Abrasive installation: put the felt on the grinding table, and then put the abrasive on the felt. When placing the abrasive, the warp and weft yarns of the abrasive fabric should be parallel to the edge of the instrument table. When installing, press the weight on the felt and abrasive on the grinding table, tighten the clamping ring, and after fixing, remove the pressure weight. 3. Combine and pressurize: Combine the devices and load the pressurizing block. Different friction loads are applied to different fabric types: ①, work clothes, furniture upholstery, bed linen products, industrial fabrics: (795±7)g②, clothing and home textiles: (595±7)g③, clothing coating Fabric: (198±2) g4, starting friction. 5. Determination of sample mass loss: According to the expected friction times of the sample, the mass loss of the sample is determined under each set of friction times. After each set of friction times, remove the test sample to weigh the mass loss of the sample, and finally record the mass loss under the total number of frictions. Calculate the wear resistance index of the sample as the mass loss under the total friction times compared to the total friction times of the upper sample. 4. Instrument parameters (1) Number of stations: 9 digits; (2) Counting range: 0-999999 times (3) Maximum stroke: horizontal 60.5±0.5mm, longitudinal 24±0.5mm (4) Pressurized mass: Holder: 200±1g, cloth sample weight: 395±2g, furniture decoration sample weight: 594±2g, stainless steel disc: 260±1g. (5) Effective friction diameter of the grinding block: A type 200g (1.96N) friction head (9KPa) ¢28.8-0.084mm B type 155g (1.52N) friction head (12 KPa) ¢90-0.1mm (6) The holder and The relative speed of the grinding table: 20-70r/min (adjustable) (7) The weight of the sample loading hammer: 2385±10g. V. Precautions: (1) Strictly implement the relevant specifications of the test samples and auxiliary materials in the standard. (2) When the weight of the test material is less than 500g/m2, foam plastic should be added to the sample holder. (3) Apply different pressures according to different sample types. (4) Pay attention to the effective life of the auxiliary materials: the abrasive is replaced every 50,000 times of friction of wool abrasive, and every 6,000 times of water sandpaper. (5) Check the sample at intervals of each group of friction. If the surface of the sample has fluffing, pilling, wrinkling, or the fluffing of the fleece fabric, the sample should be discarded. If the sample has such changes, stop the test. Record the abnormal phenomena observed and the number of abnormal tests in the test report. (6) Use a soft brush to remove the abrasion material on both sides, and weigh the sample to the nearest 1 mg. More about Martindale Abrasion Tester: http://www.standard-groups.com/TextileGarment/

What Are the Test Methods for Fabric Bursting Strength?
Fabric bursting strength measures resistance to rupture under concentrated load. Three primary test methods are used:

Ball Burst Method (ASTM D3787): Steel ball penetration for textiles/films using testers like GT-C02-2.

Hydraulic Method (ISO 13938.1): Fluid pressure on rubber diaphragm for industrial fabrics via GT-C12A.

Pneumatic Method (ISO 13938.2): Compressed air for breathable materials tested with GT-C12B.
Results are influenced by raw materials, yarn properties,
