Influencing factors of fabric anti-pilling performance
This article analyzes the critical factors affecting fabric anti-pilling performance. Key influences include fiber characteristics (crimp, fineness, length), yarn properties (twist, hairiness), fabric structure (looseness), and dyeing/finishing processes (pre-treatment, pre-setting, resin application). Specific techniques like using degreasers, bath smoothing agents, and anti-pilling resins (e.g., PUNEW) are discussed, along with process parameters and considerations for maintaining fabric hand
Test principle and method of pilling box tester
The ICI Pilling and Snagging Tester evaluates the surface pilling and snagging propensity of woven and knitted fabrics. Specimens are mounted on tubes and tumbled randomly within a cork-lined box at a constant speed for a defined number of revolutions (e.g., 7200 or 14400). Pilling is assessed visually against standards like ISO 12945-1, GB/T4802.3, BS5811, and IWS TM152 after tumbling. Specimen preparation includes potential pretreatment, precise cutting, sewing, mounting, and conditioning.
