Ten key words to look at the development of the coating industry in 2018

2017 passed away quietly, continuing the trend of 2016. In 2017, the coating industry has been hot. Price increases, environmental protection acquisitions, etc. have been too numerous to mention in the past year. The editor uses ten key words to show you the changes in the coatings industry in 2017. Keyword 1: Price increase continues the trend of 2016, and the “rising” of the coatings industry in 2017 has also been unabated. It can be said that after your home has risen, other homes have risen, raw materials have risen, and paints have risen. To say that the most influential is the phenomenon of concentrated price increases by coating companies in March, September and November this year. From the second half of 2016, to be precise, from October 2016, the prices of major raw materials have continued to rise. In addition, labor costs have continued to increase, logistics costs have also risen sharply due to factors such as overloading and overloading. It is estimated that the entire production of coatings companies The cost has probably risen by more than 30%. Due to the 'three arrows' of raw materials, labor costs, and logistics costs, coating companies ushered in the first concentrated price increase in March this year. Price-increasing companies include Haihong Elderly, Yangtze River, Jordan, Three Trees, Garboly, Bardez... Entering from July to August 2017, titanium dioxide, TDI (curing agent), solvents, resins, emulsions, etc. The price of coating raw materials once again ushered in a collective skyrocketing. In the face of the 'one wave of unsettled, another wave' of raw materials soaring, in September this year, Nippon, Carberry, Valspar (China Resources), Zhanchen, Dozens of paint companies, including Yip's Chemical, Axalta, Dabao Chemical, Baichuan, Huilong, Mickey, Digital Color, Shiquanxing, Lanyang, Huayang Chemical, French-American Paint Factory, and Jin Zhanhong, have issued price adjustment notices. Forced to focus on price adjustments. Since October 9th, 15 titanium dioxide companies, represented by Lomon Baili, Shandong Dongjia, and China Nuclear Titanium Dioxide, have collectively issued notices of price increases. Raw materials continue to rise. It is understood that starting from the second half of last year, titanium dioxide Main raw materials such as white powder, epoxy resin, TDI, solvent pentaerythritol, zinc powder, etc. rose by as much as 50-80%. Due to the increase in the price of raw materials, it has exceeded the scope of the coating companies. In order to maintain the company’s normal business development and effectively ensure the stable and continuous supply of high-quality products, PPG, Zhanchen, Qilu Paint, Lehua Paint, Pentium Paint, and Wuyi Paint , Goldfish, Tikkurila (China) and others announced price adjustments. This is also the third wave of this year's paint companies to increase prices. Keyword two: environmental protection To say that the non-'environmental protection' that runs through the entire coating industry in 2017 is juxtaposed with 'price increase'. Environmental protection inspectors, environmental blacklists, etc. Since the Central Environmental Inspectorate launched a pilot project in Hebei Province in January 2016, the Central Environmental Inspectorate has conducted four batches in two years, achieving full coverage in 31 provinces across the country, with more than 17,000 accountable persons. It is indeed not easy for the coating industry to survive this year. In the first half of the year, many coating companies were unable to start production normally in response to environmental protection inspections since last year, reporting environmental assessments, applying for certification, and upgrading environmental protection facilities and equipment. Starting from the second half of the year, a round of environmental protection has been launched across the country. Inspectors climax, covering 31 provinces and cities. At the same time, from July to October, all provinces and cities across the country carried out major inspections of production safety. As the winter just entered, the northern region carried out the autumn and winter air pollution control, and the company entered the stage of staggered production. The suspension of production, limited production, and staggered production, etc., really make coating companies complain. At the beginning of 2017, the Chengdu Environmental Protection Bureau announced the 'Chengdu 2016 List of Key Exhaust Gas Pollution Monitoring Companies'. Nippon Paint (China) Co., Ltd. is among them. The reporter of 'Paint Jing' found that Nippon Paint will be within three years from 2013. The paint was punished 4 times by the Environmental Protection Bureau of Chengdu and Tianjin. The reason was that the project was put into production without approval of the environmental assessment. In addition, it was learned from the Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau that Valspar Paint (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was also violated by the Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau in December 2016 due to environmental violations in violation of Article 45 of the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People’s Republic of China. A penalty of 120,000 yuan was imposed. According to 'Coating Economics' statistics, the list of environmental blacklists in 2017 also includes Shanghai Huayi New Materials Co., Ltd., Zhongtu Chemical (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Shanghai Zhanli Chemical Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Huayi Energy Chemical Co., Ltd., Bang (Shanghai) Chemical Co., Ltd., Shanghai Mecca Coatings Co., Ltd., Daikin Fluoro Coatings (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Eneng Coatings (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., etc., there should be many more.
