The conditions of textile abrasive wear and its different forms

The abrasive wear of textiles is caused by the following different conditions:   The friction between textile materials, such as rubbing the jacket or coat lining on the shirt, and the friction between the trouser pocket and the trouser fabric. The friction between the textile material and external objects, for example, the friction between the pants and the seat, the friction between the yarn and the needle, etc. Friction or grit between the fiber and dust will cause the fiber to be cut. This is a very slow process and may be observed on hanging flags or swimsuits due to uncleared sand. Friction between fabric components. Flexure, stretching and bending of the fibers during use can cause the fibers to slip, rub against each other and break.  There are three different forms of abrasive wear:   micro-cutting, wedge-shaped and plow-shaped; during the operation of the system, there may be a transition from one mode to another, and the modes can work at the same time. In plowing mode, a shallow groove is formed, which requires repeated loading to form wear particles. In wedge processing, wedge-shaped wear fragments are formed. In the micro-cutting mode, long and curly ribbon-shaped particles are produced. The shape, hardness, load and shear strength of the contact interface determine the abrasive wear state. The abrasion coefficient of the metal is in a range that depends on the conditions, and is larger than the abrasion of the adhesive. Therefore, the grinding mode is mainly severe wear.

What is a Light Fastness Tester?
A Light Fastness Tester accelerates material aging by simulating sunlight (xenon lamps) and moisture to predict long-term durability. Used in textiles, automotive, plastics, and more, it follows AATCC TM 16, ISO 105-B02, and ASTM standards. Features include real-time light control, temperature/humidity regulation, and energy-efficient testing.
Do you know the Down Proof of Fabrics?
Down-proof performance is crucial for fabrics in down jackets, duvets, and comforters. Poor downproofing leads to feather leakage, reducing warmth and aesthetics. The GT-C41 Down Proof Testing Machine evaluates fabric tightness to prevent feather penetration, ensuring high-quality production. Learn how it works and why it matters.
Why is a Computerized Universal Testing Machine Important?
A computerized universal testing machine (UTM) is essential for evaluating material properties like tensile strength, compression, and bending. Widely used in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and footwear, UTMs ensure compliance with ISO, ASTM, and DIN standards while improving accuracy and efficiency in quality control.
