ISO 5981 Scott Type Flex Abrasion Tester is evaluated the resistance to combined shear flexing and rubbing of rubber- or plastics-coated fabrics.
The sample is subjected to Continuous bending. Then the bent portion will be subjected to a series of flexing and rubbing, and observe the wear pattern of sample visually.
There are 2 methods.
Pressure method(A) and without application of the pressure foot(B).
Pressure method(method A): Forced by application of a pressure foot. And the sample is damaged by the friction of the platen. Thus testing resistance to combined shear flexing and rubbing. It is for materials with sticky surfaces, light coatings such as polyurethanes on rough surfaces.
without application of the pressure foot(method B): Rubbing is caused by simple contact between the faces of the test pieces.Then evaluated the resistance to combined shear flexing and rubbing coated samples.
