Martindale Abrasion Tester for Determination of Specimen Mass Loss

1. Test standard: GB/T 21196.3 2. Test principle: The fabric to be tested is installed in the upper sample holder and rubbed against the abrasive installed on the grinding table. The friction trajectory is a Lissajous figure. During the test, the mass of the sample was weighed at intervals, and the abrasion resistance of the fabric was determined according to the mass loss of the sample. 3. Test steps: 1. Sample installation: The sample is installed in the sample holder. Center the sample on the compression nut of the sample holder, with the friction surface of the sample facing down, and the sample size is 38.0+50mm. When the gram weight of the sample is less than 500 g/m2, place the foam pad on the sample. Put the insert block into the compression nut, then put the sample holder sleeve on and tighten. 2. Abrasive installation: put the felt on the grinding table, and then put the abrasive on the felt. The abrasive should be placed so that the warp and weft yarns of the abrasive fabric are parallel to the edge of the instrument table. When installing, press the weight on the felt and abrasive on the grinding table, tighten the clamping ring, and after fixing, remove the pressure weight. 3. Combine and pressurize: Combine each device and load the pressurizing block. Apply different friction loads to different fabric types: ①, work clothes, upholstery fabrics, bed linens, industrial fabrics: (795±7) g②, clothing and household textiles: (595±7) g③, Coated fabric for clothing: (198±2) g4, start friction. 5. Determination of the mass loss of the sample: According to the expected friction times of the sample, the mass loss of the sample is measured under each set of friction times. After each set of rubbing times, the test sample was removed to measure the mass loss of the sample, and finally the mass loss under the total number of rubbing times was recorded. The wear resistance index of the sample is calculated as the mass loss under the ratio of the total friction times to the total friction times of the sample. 4. Instrument parameters (1) Number of stations: 9; (2) Counting range: 0-999999 times (3) Maximum stroke: horizontal 60.5±0.5mm, vertical 24±0.5mm (4) Amount of pressurized material: Gripper: 200±1g, Clothing sample weight: 395±2g, furniture decoration sample weight: 594±2g, stainless steel disc: 260±1g. (5) Effective friction diameter of grinding block: Type A 200g (1.96N) friction head (9KPa) ¢28.8-0.084mm B type 155g (1.52N) friction head (12 KPa) ¢90-0.1mm (6) The gripper and The relative movement speed of the grinding table: 20-70r/min (adjustable) (7) Loading hammer quality: 2385±10g Five, matters needing attention: (1) Strictly implement the relevant specifications of the test samples and auxiliary materials in the standard. (2) When the weight of the test material is less than 500g/m2, foam plastic should be added to the sample holder. (3) Apply different pressures according to different sample types. (4) Pay attention to the effective life of the accessories: replace the abrasive every 50,000 times for the friction times of wool abrasives, and every 6,000 times for water-based sandpaper. (5) Check the sample once for each group of friction intervals. If the surface of the sample is fluffed, pilled, wrinkled or lint from the piled fabric, the sample is discarded. If the samples have this change, stop the test. Record the observed anomalies and the number of anomalous tests in the test report. (6) Remove the wear material on both sides with a soft brush, and weigh the sample to the nearest 1 mg. More about Martindale Abrasion Testers: http://www.standard-groups.com/TextileGarment/

ISO 17694 / ISO 5402-1: Footwear Flexing Resistance Test Methods
Footwear soles and uppers endure thousands of flex cycles during use, risking premature cracking, delamination, or chipping if material resistance is inadequate. This technical analysis details two critical international standards:

1. ISO 5402-1: Specifies the flexometer method for testing leather flex resistance under repeated bending.

2. ISO 17694: Defines test methods for footwear upper and lining flex resistance, simulating real-world bending stress to assess long-term durability.

With stainless-steel construction, safety features, and precise temperature and timing control, the GT-D07 provides an efficient and standardized testing solution for textile manufacturers worldwide.
What Are the ISTA Standard Tests and ISTA Testing Equipment?
ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) standard tests are globally recognized transportation packaging test procedures designed to evaluate the safety and reliability of products and their packaging throughout the logistics chain. By simulating real-world transportation conditions such as drops, vibration, impact, stacking, and compression, ISTA testing helps identify potential packaging weaknesses before products enter large-scale distribution. ISTA testing equipment—including drop testers, vibration testers, incline impact machines, and compression testers—plays a critical role in accurately reproducing these conditions under laboratory settings. Proper selection and use of ISTA-compliant equipment enable manufacturers to reduce transportation damage, lower return costs, enhance packaging design, and improve customer confidence in product quality and logistics safety.
