QB/T1811-1993 Leather Water Vapor Permeability Test

This standard specifies the test principles, test instruments, sample preparation, test procedures, calculations, and test reports for the water vapor permeability of leather under standard conditions. This standard applies to all leathers. Reference standard GB/T4689.1 leather laboratory sample location and mark GB/T4689.2 air conditioning test principle of the test piece for leather physical property testing Under certain temperature and humidity conditions, the leather test piece is fixed on the moving test bottle mouth , The test bottle is equipped with a solid desiccant. When the test bottle moves, the water vapor passes through the leather test piece and is absorbed by the solid desiccant. Weigh the test bottle within a specified time to confirm that the water vapor passes through the leather and is dried during this period of time. The weight absorbed by the agent. Sample 1. According to the No. 10 sample position specified in GB/T4689.1, remove the sample with a die. 2. Air-condition the sample according to the regulations of GB/T4689.2. Test step 1. Put half of the freshly dried silica gel (59.0±0.5) g into the test bottle, fix the sample on the bottle mouth with the use side inward, then fix the test bottle on the test bottle holder, and start the instrument. 2. Use a vernier caliper to measure the inner diameter of the second test bottle mouth in two mutually perpendicular directions, and mark the average diameter d. It is accurate to 0.1mm. 3. If necessary, it can be between the mouth of the bottle and the test piece. Add a washer or apply a layer of beeswax, or take other measures to prevent air leakage. 4. After the instrument has been rotated for 16 hours, stop it and remove the first test bottle. Put the other half of the freshly dried silica gel (59.0±0.5) g into the second test bottle, remove the sample from the first test bottle and fix it on the second test bottle as soon as possible, using the face inward. 5. Weigh the second test bottle, record the weighing time, and then fix the second test bottle on the instrument. 6. When the instrument rotates for 7 hours, stop it, remove the test bottle, weigh it, and record the weighing time. Test result Pu003d7369m/(d?×t) where: P——water vapor permeability, mg/(cm??h); m——the increased mass of the bottle after weighing twice, mg; d——bottle mouth The diameter, cm; t——the time between two weighings is small. Test report The test report includes the following content: a. The name and source of the tested sample; b. Each measurement result, the arithmetic average of multiple results; c. Save the sample and test conditions; d If it appears temporarily, it may produce experimental results. Factors affecting.

What Are the ISTA Standard Tests and ISTA Testing Equipment?
ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) standard tests are globally recognized transportation packaging test procedures designed to evaluate the safety and reliability of products and their packaging throughout the logistics chain. By simulating real-world transportation conditions such as drops, vibration, impact, stacking, and compression, ISTA testing helps identify potential packaging weaknesses before products enter large-scale distribution. ISTA testing equipment—including drop testers, vibration testers, incline impact machines, and compression testers—plays a critical role in accurately reproducing these conditions under laboratory settings. Proper selection and use of ISTA-compliant equipment enable manufacturers to reduce transportation damage, lower return costs, enhance packaging design, and improve customer confidence in product quality and logistics safety.
