What are the types of geosynthetics and how are they classified?

The raw materials of geotextile, geomembrane, geocomposite and geotechnical special materials are mainly polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride and other high molecular polymers. In recent years, geotextiles, geomembranes, and geocomposites have been widely used in water conservancy projects. Geotextiles are divided into two types: woven geotextiles and non-woven geotextiles. Among them, needle-punched non-woven geotextiles have the characteristics of high porosity, high permeability and good drainage performance. They are often used as drainage countermeasures in dam projects. Filtration facilities are widely used. The geomembrane has good anti-seepage performance, and the vertical permeability coefficient is less than 1×10-11cm/s, the price is cheap, but its CBR burst strength is low, it is not suitable for engineering parts with high anti-seepage requirements, and is generally used for vertical anti-seepage of dam foundations. Geocomposite is a product that combines two or more geosynthetic materials, with a wide variety and different functions. Among them, the composite geomembrane has the dual functions of anti-seepage and drainage, and is widely used in dam engineering.
