AATCC 135 fabric shrinkage test process and rating reference1

Scope of application: This test method is used for dimensional changes in woven and knitted fabrics after multiple home launderings.

Test principle: The dimensional change of the cloth box is calculated by the difference between the standard length delineated on the cloth box before washing in a representative household washing and drying process.

Test equipment: Wascator Automatic Shrinkage Tester For Fabric GT-D34 , Medicines: WOB washing powder 92g, total laundry weight: 1.8kg, weighted cloth: 92X2300px, white bleached cotton cloth, overlock. Sampling: Use the AATCC sampling ruler to cut the sample 50 X1250px, take 35 X875px (35 is the smallest, or it can be larger) on each side to mark three pairs, at least 3 samples. AATCC Shrinkage Washing Machine Technical Parameters: Standard: AATCC 88B, AATCC 88C, AATCC 124, AATCC 130, AATCC 135, AATCC 142, AATCC 143, AATCC 150, AATCC 159, AATCC 172, AATCC 179, AATCC 188

Test steps:

1) Sampling , Weighing, if it is less than 1.8kg, use a weighted cloth to make up.

2) Set the water level. Medium is generally used, and if the customer has special requirements, it will be based on the customer's requirements.

3) Set the water temperature. Generally washed with warm water and rinsed in cold water, or according to customer requirements. The water heater can adjust the water temperature.

4) Set the laundry program. Generally use Regular or according to customer requirements.

5) Take 92g of WOB washing powder, dissolve it in an appropriate amount of warm water and pour it into the washing machine.

6) Put the test sample and weighted cloth into the washing machine.

7) Start up and run, and take it out after the end.

8) Take out the test sample and weighting cloth and put it in the dryer.

9) Set the appropriate drying program and temperature, and start running.

10) After the operation, take out the test sample and weighted cloth, put it back into the washing machine, and carry out the experiment according to steps 2) to 9).

11) As mentioned above, carry out at least three cycles of washing and drying.

12) The dried samples are placed in the conditioning chamber for at least 4 hours, then the dimensional changes are measured and recorded. Test report: 1) Percentage of dimensional change in the length direction, take the average value of each measurement. 2) The percentage of dimensional change in the width direction, take the average value of each measurement. 3) Describe the laundry conditions used, including water level, water temperature, and washing program. 4) State the drying conditions used, including drying program and temperature. 5) Describe the change in appearance of the test sample after washing.

Why is TPP Testing Important for Firefighter Protective Clothing
TPP testing objectively evaluates the thermal protective performance of firefighter protective clothing under extreme radiant and convective heat. This article explains TPP testing principles, its role in meeting NFPA/ISO standards, and how advanced equipment like the GT-RC02 TPP tester helps ensure clothing reliability and firefighter safety.
What Are the ISTA Standard Tests and ISTA Testing Equipment?
ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) standard tests are globally recognized transportation packaging test procedures designed to evaluate the safety and reliability of products and their packaging throughout the logistics chain. By simulating real-world transportation conditions such as drops, vibration, impact, stacking, and compression, ISTA testing helps identify potential packaging weaknesses before products enter large-scale distribution. ISTA testing equipment—including drop testers, vibration testers, incline impact machines, and compression testers—plays a critical role in accurately reproducing these conditions under laboratory settings. Proper selection and use of ISTA-compliant equipment enable manufacturers to reduce transportation damage, lower return costs, enhance packaging design, and improve customer confidence in product quality and logistics safety.
