The ASTM D5587 standard specifies the use of trapezoidal specimens to determine the tear strength of non-woven fabrics. This standard can be applied to the resistance to continuous tearing of a variety of textiles, such as resistance to tearing by foreign objects such as steel nails or bolts. The sample is cut into an equal trapezoid, and a notch is cut on the short side. The sample is clamped in the tool, and as the upper and lower tools are separated, the notch cut at the short side of the sample is torn. Continuously record the force-displacement data of the sample, and finally calculate the trapezoidal tear strength. There are two calculations for the tear strength: one is the maximum value of a single peak, and the other is the average of the five maximum peaks. For this test, the data The collection rate is recommended not to be less than 500Hz.. Prepare samples for fabrics and elastic fabrics with low elongation, and cut 5 samples in the warp and weft directions according to the standard requirements. Set the upper and lower clamp spacing of 25mm, and the stretching speed of 100mm/min; select a suitable sensor so that the force value of the tearing force falls between 10% and 90% of the full scale of the sensor.
