Classification of GB 4208-84 enclosure protection grade

by:GESTER Instruments     2021-06-01
This standard is based on the protection capability of the enclosure, and specifies that the maximum voltage does not exceed 69kV (if necessary, the rated voltage may not exceed 72.5kV after agreement between the supplier and the buyer), and the classification and classification system for the enclosure of electrical equipment protected by enclosures. Type test method for assessing the protective performance of various grades of enclosures. The classification system in this standard includes the following forms of protection: a. Prevent the human body from touching or approaching the live parts and moving parts (except smooth rotating shafts and similar parts) inside the casing, and prevent solid conductive objects from entering the inside of the casing. B. Prevent water from entering the enclosure to a harmful degree. This standard only considers enclosures that meet the design requirements in all aspects. Under normal conditions of use, the material and workmanship of the housing should be able to ensure that it meets the requirements of this standard. Protective measures such as fences set on the outside of the enclosure purely for personal safety are not counted as part of the enclosure. The protection of moving parts outside the housing, such as fans, etc., is regulated by the relevant professional standards. This standard does not stipulate the degree of protection related to mechanical damage, explosive, corrosive gas or humidity (such as caused by condensation), mold, and insect pests. This standard is equivalent to the IEC529 (first edition in 1976) 'Classification of Enclosure Protection Levels 1 code (classification and grading system) represents the protection level code usually consists of the characteristic letter IP and two characteristic numbers. The degree of protection described in item a of the first digit guideline, and the degree of protection described in item b of the second digit guideline. The meanings of characteristic numbers are shown in Table 1 and Table 2 respectively. Instructions for adoption: has made editorial changes to some of the contents of the introduction, and deleted some instructions on the use of this standard and put them in the compilation instructions. The difference when adopted: 'IEC529-76' stipulates 'applicable to electrical equipment with a rated voltage not exceeding 72.5kV...'. my country does not have this voltage level, and the closest one is 69kV. Therefore, this standard stipulates 'applicable to the highest Electrical equipment with a voltage not exceeding 69kV (if necessary, the rated voltage may not exceed 72.5kV upon agreement between the supplier and the buyer)......'.
