Martindale wear test detailed steps

Sample cutting and test procedures before Martindale abrasion resistance test: 1. Purpose 1.1 Applicable to the abrasion resistance of all kinds of knitted fabrics and knitted fabrics. 1.2 Not suitable for tufted fabrics with a thickness of more than 2mm. 2. Principle 2.1 To judge the abrasion resistance of the fabric, under a known pressure, rub the sample mounted on the sample holder ± on a standard abrasive cloth in a Lissajous pattern. 3. Equipment and standard materials 3.1 Martindale wear resistance and pilling tester: the distance between the outer drive assembly and the central axis is 30.25±0.25mm, the speed is 47.5±2.5r/min, the outer drive assembly and the outer drive shaft are in the middle The axis spacing is 30.25±0.25mm, the rotation speed is 44.5±2.4r/min, the rotation ratio of the outer drive unit to the inner drive unit is 16:15, and the maximum stroke of the drive unit is 60.5±0.5mm. 3.2 Fabric cutting device: diameter 38mm respectively ,140mm.3.3 standard felt: gram weight 750±50g/㎡, thickness 3±0.3mm.3.4 standard friction fabric: combed plain weave fabric made of wool, gram weight 195/㎡.3.5 standard foam lining; density 29-31kg /m3, thickness 3±0.01mm. 4. Sample preparation 4.1 Use a sampler to cut a circular sample with a diameter of 38mm from the sample. 4.2 The sample should be placed in a constant temperature and humidity environment to adjust the humidity before testing. 5. Test procedure 5.1 Place a 140mm standard felt and 140mm standard friction fabric on each grinding table in turn. 5.2 Use a weight to flatten the fabric and felt, tighten the ring clamp, and then remove the weight to avoid curling of the fabric when installing the sample. 5.3 Install the sample in the sample holder. If the sample weight is less than 500g/㎡, a new polyurethane foam plastic should be lined, and if the sample weight is heavier than 500g/㎡, no foam lining is required. 5.4 Place the sample clamp on the friction table, and then apply the required pressure. For fabrics for clothing, a pressure of 9±0.2kpa, and for fabrics for decoration, a pressure of 12±0.3kpa. 5.5 Preset the appropriate number of times and start the machine. 5.6 After stopping the instrument, observe the sample and estimate the number of continued frictions. When it is close to the end of the experiment, reduce the number of frictions and carefully cut off the lint produced on the sample with scissors. Note: Replace the abrasive and foam after each test. If a test exceeds 50,000 revolutions, the abrasive needs to be replaced. After the test, check whether the felt is stained or worn, otherwise the felt needs to be replaced. 6. Common termination conditions of the experiment 6.1 The fabric wears off two yarns, and the knitted fabric wears off one yarn. 6.2 According to customer requirements, it is also possible to choose whether the color of the sample is worn away or its appearance is deformed enough to cause consumers to complain, which is counted as the end of the experiment. 6.3 It can also be determined by the percentage of mass loss before and after friction. 6.4 Record the number of frictions at the end of the experiment for each sample. The 100 square centimeter sampler can quickly, accurately and safely intercept round samples according to a fixed diameter. In fact, the sampler is suitable for any material, including woven fabrics, non-woven fabrics, knitwear, carpets, film, foam, paper and wood. The material should be placed between the sampler and the special shear plate. After lowering the safety catch, gently press the handwheel downwards to make multiple blades contact the sample. Then rotate the hand wheel to apply light and uniform pressure to the sample to intercept the sample. The precise design and manufacture of the instrument ensure that the sample shape is a standard round shape and has no burrs. The UKAS calibration certificate can confirm the operation of the instrument. In order to ensure the effect of sampling, when the blade is damaged or dull, the blade should be replaced. When the shear plate is worn out, it should also be replaced. In order to get the best samples, only certified blades and shear plates can be used.
