Edge Crush/Ring Crush tester is an indispensable and important equipment in the packaging industry, which is mainly used to evaluate the edge compressive strength and ring compressive strength of cardboard, carton and other packaging materials. It helps to ensure the stability and safety of packaging materials during transportation and storage. It is applied in various testing methods such as Ring Crush Test (RCT), Edge Crush Test (ECT), Flat Crush Test (FCT), Pin Adhesion Test(PAT) and Concora Medium Test(CMT) and so on.
Testing Method
1. Edge Crush Test (ECT)
Edge Crush Test (ECT) is an important index to evaluate the ability of cardboard or carton to resist damage when subjected to lateral pressure. During the test, the sample of cardboard or carton is placed between two parallel platens of the testing machine, and then the pressure is gradually increased until the sample breaks. At this time the recorded pressure value is the sample's lateral compression strength.
2. Ring Compression Test (RCT)
Ring Compression Test is to assess the bending resistance of paper, cardboard and other materials under ring pressure. Test, the circular specimen placed in the ring mold, through the upper and lower pressure plate on the specimen to apply uniform pressure, until the specimen is crushed. At this time the maximum pressure value recorded as the specimen's ring compression strength.
3. Flat Crush Test (FCT)
The Flat Crush Test is mainly used to evaluate the bonding strength between the layers of corrugated board. During the test, the peeling strength test frame is used to peel the corrugated board specimen along the bonding surface, and the force required during the peeling process and the peeling length are recorded to calculate the peeling strength of the specimen.
4. Concora Medium Test(CMT)
The Concora Medium Test(CMT), which is mainly used to evaluate the compression and flat compression properties of raw paper after fluting. These tests help to understand the changes in the properties of the raw paper during processing into corrugated board, and provide data support for process adjustments in the production process.
Operation Procedure of Crush Tester
The operation of the GT-N09 Crush Tester is simple and intuitive, and the following are the specific steps:
1. Turn on the crush tester for boxes, click “down” to adjust the height of the lower pressure plate to a suitable position, click “Stop”.
Clamp the specimen in the middle of the two clamping blocks and place it on the lower platen.
2. Click SET button to enter the setting interface, click test type to select the test mode. Set the test parameters and return to the test interface.
3. Return to the test interface, click ZERO to clear, click TEST to start the test.
4. After the test is completed, the lower pressure plate will be automatically lowered to remove the specimen and the clamping block.
5. If you need to output the test results, you can click PRINT to print the test results.
Precautions during the test
1. Sample Preparation: Ensure that the test sample meets the size and shape requirements of the relevant standards, to avoid errors in the sample preparation process affecting the test results.
2. Fixture and mold selection: the design of fixture and mold directly affects the accuracy of the test results, according to the shape and size of the sample to select the appropriate fixture and mold.
3. Testing environment: Keep the temperature and humidity of the testing environment stable to minimize the influence of external environmental factors on the test results.
4. Data Recording and Processing: Accurately record the data during the testing process, and process and analyze the data according to the relevant standards to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the test results.
