The total value of teaching and research equipment in colleges and universities increased by 40 billion compared with last year

On June 28, 2016, in Binzhou City, Shandong Province, dozens of colleges and universities participated in a high-level recruitment consultation meeting.  According to the website of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Education today released the 2015 National Education Development Statistical Bulletin. The communique pointed out that the total enrollment of various types of higher education nationwide reached 36.47 million, and the gross enrollment rate of higher education reached 40.0%.   The communiqué stated that there were 2,852 regular colleges and universities and adult colleges in the country, an increase of 28 over the previous year. Among them, there were 2,560 regular colleges and universities (including 275 independent colleges), an increase of 31 over the previous year; 292 adult colleges and universities, a decrease of 3 over the previous year. There were 1,219 undergraduate colleges in general universities, an increase of 17 over the previous year; 1,341 vocational (academic) colleges and universities, an increase of 14 over the previous year. There are 792 postgraduate training institutions nationwide, including 575 colleges and universities and 217 scientific research institutions.   The bulletin showed that 645,100 graduate students were enrolled, an increase of 23,700 over the previous year, of which 74,400 were enrolled for doctoral students and 570,600 for postgraduates. There were 1,911,400 postgraduates, an increase of 63,700 over the previous year. Among them, 326,700 doctoral students and 1,584,700 postgraduate students. There were 551,500 postgraduates, an increase of 15,700 over the previous year. Among them, 53,800 were doctoral students and 497,700 were postgraduates.   General higher education undergraduates and junior colleges enrolled a total of 7,378,500 students, an increase of 164,500 over the previous year; there were 26,253 million students in school, an increase of 776,000 over the previous year; and 6,808,900 graduates, an increase of 215.2 million over the previous year.   Adult higher education undergraduate and junior college enrolled a total of 2,367,500 students, a decrease of 288,600 over the previous year; the number of students at school was 6,359,400, a decrease of 171,900 over the previous year; and there were 2,362,600 graduates, an increase of 150,300 over the previous year.   The average size of ordinary colleges and universities is 10197, of which 14,444 are in undergraduate schools and 6,336 are in higher vocational (technical) schools.   The communiqué stated that there were 2,369,300 faculty and staff in regular colleges and universities, an increase of 33,600 over the previous year; and 1,572,600 full-time teachers, an increase of 38,100 over the previous year. The student-teacher ratio in ordinary colleges and universities is 17.73:1, among which, undergraduate schools are 17.69:1 and higher vocational (technical) schools are 17.77:1. There were 51,300 faculty and staff in adult institutions of higher learning, a decrease of 1,629 over the previous year; 30,200 full-time teachers, a decrease of 1,292 over the previous year.   The communiqué pointed out that the total construction area of u200bu200bordinary colleges and universities was 891.4138 million square meters, an increase of 28.306700 square meters over the previous year; the total value of teaching and research equipment was 405.86 billion yuan, an increase of 40.011 billion yuan over the previous year.
