Non-ferrous metal industry 'Calibration Specification for Tubular Resistance Furnace' solicits opinions

On July 5, 2021, the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association released a draft of the non-ferrous metal industry metrology technical specification 'Calibration Specification for Tubular Resistance Furnace'. In accordance with the 'Workflow for the Formulation and Revision of Industrial Metrology Technical Specifications', comments are now being solicited. The tubular resistance furnace has the functions of fast heating, uniform furnace temperature, good heat preservation effect, accurate temperature control, simple operation, over-temperature protection, etc. In recent years, it has been widely used in chemical analysis, physical measurement and thermocouple verification and other fields. Based on the extensiveness of its application, it also puts forward higher requirements for its measurement. At present, the existing regulations/norms do not clearly stipulate the measurement of tube resistance furnaces, and only refer to the relevant technical standards/specifications, resulting in different measurement results, incomplete measurement of technical parameters, measurement of the average temperature area and actual use. Inconsistency and the inability to guarantee the traceability of the quantity value seriously affect the experimental results and product quality. The proposed calibration specification for tubular resistance furnace aims to standardize the calibration method, clarify the calibration technical parameters, and ensure the traceability of the value. At present, the calibration of the tube resistance furnace has not been carried out by the Metrology Technology Research Institute of various provinces and cities, or there are unreasonable and ununiform operations. The proposed calibration specification is expected to carry out the calibration of the tube resistance furnace and the calibration of the grading system, and promote the more reasonable and accurate application of the tube resistance furnace in scientific research institutes and industrial products. This specification is the first to be published. This specification is compiled based on JJF 1071-2010 'Rules for Compilation of National Metrology Calibration Specifications', JJF 1001-2011 'General Metrology Terms and Definitions' and JJF 1059.1-2012 'Measurement Uncertainty Evaluation and Representation'. This specification mainly refers to the standard JJF 1184-2007 Determination of temperature field of thermocouple verification furnace and GB/T 9452-2012 Determination of effective heating zone of heat treatment furnace. The calibration conditions of this specification are: the calibration test should be carried out at 23 ℃±5 ℃, relative humidity≤80% of the conditions, other conditions should meet the requirements of the equipment used. The measurement standard is: the calibration of the tube resistance furnace, mainly through sensors and temperature measuring instruments, the measurement uncertainty should not be greater than 1/3 of the maximum allowable error of the tube resistance furnace. According to JJF 1071-2010 'Rules for Compilation of National Metrology Calibration Specifications', this specification includes introduction, scope, reference documents, overview, measurement characteristics, calibration conditions, calibration items and calibration methods, expression of calibration results, and recalibration time interval in the organizational structure. and appendices. This specification is applicable to the calibration of the temperature field of the tubular resistance furnace with the working temperature (0~1700) ℃. For the vertical resistance furnace, this specification can be referred to.

What Are the ISTA Standard Tests and ISTA Testing Equipment?
ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) standard tests are globally recognized transportation packaging test procedures designed to evaluate the safety and reliability of products and their packaging throughout the logistics chain. By simulating real-world transportation conditions such as drops, vibration, impact, stacking, and compression, ISTA testing helps identify potential packaging weaknesses before products enter large-scale distribution. ISTA testing equipment—including drop testers, vibration testers, incline impact machines, and compression testers—plays a critical role in accurately reproducing these conditions under laboratory settings. Proper selection and use of ISTA-compliant equipment enable manufacturers to reduce transportation damage, lower return costs, enhance packaging design, and improve customer confidence in product quality and logistics safety.
