As an important wearing performance of textiles, abrasion resistance has a great impact on the wearing function of fabrics and apparel. Therefore, it is one of the important assessment indicators for wearing fabrics, and it has also received more and more attention from the industry. The flat abrasion resistance test of woven fabrics is usually carried out with a Martindale abrasion tester. The Martindale Abrasion Tester is suitable for testing the abrasion resistance and pilling degree of woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, woolen fabrics, artificial leather, synthetic leather, etc. under pressure, and is used in textile, footwear, clothing and other industries. Test principle: 1. Under a certain pressure, the circular fabric sample and the standard abrasive rub against each other according to the movement trajectory of the Lissajous curve, resulting in damage to the sample. Wear resistance. 2. The circular sample and the fabric of the same material are rubbed with a Lissajous graphic motion trajectory under a given pressure, and after reaching the specified number of revolutions, the pilling level of the sample is evaluated. Applicable standards: GB/T 13775-92 Test of abrasion resistance of cotton, linen and silk woven fabrics by Martindale method GB/T 21196.1-2007 Determination of abrasion resistance of textiles by Martindale method Part 1 GB/T 21196.2- 2007 Determination of Abrasion Resistance of Textiles by Martindale Method Part 2 GB/T 21196.3-2007 Determination of Abrasion Resistance of Textile Martindale Method Fabrics Part 3 GB/T 21196.4-2007 Textile Martindale Method Fabric Abrasion Resistance Determination of Part 4 GB/T 4802.2-1997 Textile Fabrics Pilling Test Martindale Method GB/T 8690-88 Test Method for Abrasion Resistance of Wool Fabrics Martindale Method ISO 12945-2:2002 Determination of Surface Pilling Properties of Textile Fabrics Part 2 Martindale method ASTMD 4966-1988 Abrasion resistance test of fabrics Martindale abrasion tester ASTMD 4970-2002 Test method for pilling resistance of fabrics , The abrasion resistance of wool woven fabrics is good, the abrasion resistance of viscose woven fabrics is poor, and the abrasion resistance of polyester/cotton blended woven fabrics is in the middle. This is consistent with the high deformation ability of the fiber material in repeated stretching, and the wear resistance of the fabric. The deformation ability of the fiber in repeated stretching is determined by the strength, elongation and elastic ability of the fiber. Therefore, although the strength of wool fiber is not high, its elongation and elasticity are large, and the breaking work after repeated stretching is less reduced, and its fabric has better wear resistance. Although viscose fiber has high strength, its elasticity is poor, and the work of rupture decreases significantly after repeated stretching, so the wear resistance of its fabric is poor. Polyester fiber has high breaking work and high elastic recovery ability. Although these properties are reduced after being blended with cotton, the abrasion resistance of its blended fabric is still quite good. The factors affecting the flat wear resistance of woven fabrics mainly include the fiber raw materials, weave, warp and weft density, warp and weft yarn density, fabric thickness and surface density. The correlations obtained from the experiments are as follows: (1) The greater the deformation ability of the fiber material in repeated stretching, the better the abrasion resistance of the fabric. (2) For loose fabrics with low warp and weft density, plain weave fabrics have better wear resistance, but for tighter fabrics, under the same other conditions, twill weave fabrics have better wear resistance than plain weave fabrics. (3) Under the same other conditions, the linear density of the yarn in the fabric, or the warp and weft density of the fabric, or the thickness and surface density of the fabric are positively correlated with the wear resistance of the fabric. The influence of temperature and humidity conditions in the experiment on the test results is mainly manifested in the fiber, that is, the humidity has a significant effect on the abrasion resistance of viscose fiber, has almost no effect on polyester fiber and acrylic fiber, and has a certain effect on nylon fiber.
